It's time to expand the original Group Film Topic Post...
http://www.hostboard.com/cgi-bin/ult...ic&f=405&t=180
...into workable sections.
the premise was suggested by Cameraguy...
"How about making a full length feature film on Super 8 where each regular on this group (if they want to) gets to make a small segment of. The film can be about anything but all segments should have some tie in or something."
Scott Spears then suggested "Some form of anthology feature, like "Twilight Zone", "Creepshow" or on the comedy front, "Kentucky Fried Movie." Another example is "Four Rooms", which was movie made with 4 directors with one location, a hotel as the tie in."
"Here's an idea, how about the link between the movies be a mysterious email, saying some ominous, like "The end is near." or "Change is coming." Everybody here has a computer and can recreate the email easily." -Scott
Alex suggested "I like the idea of an "inanimate" object/prop that carries over from filmmaker to filmmaker."
Alex then suggested "There is a crusty junk dealer who has a collection of odds and ends for sale. We follow the story of all the individual items that were sold, how they subtley interact with the lives of their buyers, and how eventually, they end up back with the junk man to be sold again. (maybe one of the items is a super-8 camera!)
Cameraguy then contributed: "Ok, so it looks like possessed antique(s) is a solid idea and would allow full creative control for each segment."
"It could just start with an intro where a set of antiques (of the possessed variety) are sold off to different parts of the Country (World), ebay maybe??? Each one then has a tale of its own.
????"
BolexPlusx then suggested "Alternate Idea:
This group is from locations all over Europe and North America. What if a date was picked and we filmed one minute or one cartridge (or whatever) showing what was worth seeing where we live on that one day."
"The unifying theme is that one day in time, and the viewer gets a chance to travel through film"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That gets us caught up on the storyline highlights I believe.

Lets expand on BolexPlusx's idea.
Where ever we live, each community has a "strength", something that it is known for. It could be the weather, the craftspeople, the scenicscape, the architecture, the nightlife, the people!
For instance, someone living in Los Angeles might want to focus on the weather, and what the weather enables the people of Los Angeles to do with their lives.

Yes, I vote for Bolexplusx's idea. Its a simpler approach and shouldn't overwhelm anyone with the need to get actors etc etc... Who's on board??

Screw it, I'm in.
I reckon San Francisco's worth shooting.

Me too, but don't expect Long Island shot from the perspective of a nature lover to look anything like you'd suspect!

Well it sounds like a good plan, but I warn you there are lots of Catholic High School Girls In Trouble Down here in New Orleans. Just kidding, it really sounds like a fun project.

We're pretty much hitting the corners of the U.S. so far.
Count me in for L.A. ...
We still have the midwest AND THE REST OF THE WORLD!

Before I forget. I had thought that if we went with the Antique Storyline. I was going to nominate Scott Spears to shoot the Main aspect of the storyline...the sales of the items inside the store.
What I thought would be really cool is that we never see the people who are buying the items, we only see their point of view.
Then each filmmaker could film a shot of their particular buyer coming out of the antique shop carrying the antique.
The juxtaposing between the inside of the store with the outside of the store as it's depicted from all over the world would be interesting to see.
Perhaps that can be Group Film, Part II.

Is mikeB interested? I think he's in Nebraska.
Were we going with a specific date for the filming or a period of time like a week?
